This blog will cover everything you need about professional teeth whitening, including the different treatment types, what to expect during the process, and how to maintain your results.
Overview of Professional Teeth Whitening
Professional teeth whitening is a dental procedure designed to lighten the colour of your teeth using various whitening agents. Unlike over-the-counter whitening products, professional treatments are tailored to each patient’s needs, ensuring both effectiveness and safety. These treatments can be performed within our Zenith Dental clinic or at home using custom trays provided by our dentist.
Types of Whitening Treatments Available
These are the three types of teeth whitening we offer within Zenith Dental-
Boutique teeth whitening- This treatment starts at Zenith Dental clinics but can be continued at home. The process for boutique teeth whitening begins with an examination at the clinic to ensure that your teeth and gums are ready for moulds to be taken for your teeth whitening trays. These moulds will be used to manufacture whitening trays that fit your mouth precisely. Once the trays are ready, you can collect them from Zenith and start using them at home.
Enlighten teeth whitening- Enlighten Teeth Whitening – This process begins in-house at Zenith Clinics. Your molds will be taken for the teeth whitening process, and custom-made trays will be available for collection along with your enlighten kit. The treatment includes night gels for 14 nights. After this period, you will need to wear seals for one hour daily to whiten and complete your treatment in the final week.
We also have enlighten toothpaste available to purchase to keep your results pristine and to top up whenever you need to.

Sensitivity and Side Effects During Treatment
One of the most common side effects of teeth whitening is tooth sensitivity. This occurs because the whitening agents penetrate the enamel to reach the dentin, potentially irritating the nerve endings. Your dentist can help manage sensitivity by recommending toothpaste specifically designed for sensitive teeth, like those containing fluoride or potassium nitrate.
In rare cases, patients might experience gum irritation or uneven whitening, especially if the whitening gel comes into contact with the gums. These side effects are usually temporary and resolve shortly after the treatment.
