Stained Teeth
Stained teeth is the discolouration of the tooth. The teeth don’t look as bright as they would normally and there are a range of reasons why someone can have stained teeth.
Causes
Stains can come in different forms:
Superficial stains: usually caused by food or drink such as tea, coffee, red wine or turmeric, can also be caused by excessive consumption of high fluoride substances
Internal stains: In some cases, your teeth may have stains due to problems during their development (tetracycline stains (an antibiotic)) or due to medications (chemotherapy, antipsychotics, If you have suffered a trauma in your teeth, they may become greyish or dark
Age related stains: more often than not this is a combination between internal staining and superficial stains. Dentine (the second layer to teeth which also gives the colour to the tooth) naturally shows through enamel more as time passes.
